We welcomed a lovely group of ladies from Mouswald WI last night. We are sure that they enjoyed our presentation, which included a short history of Torthorwald Castle, a description of the village as it was in the 19th century, followed by the history of the Cruck Cottage as far as we know it. We also explained how our Association came about, and details of the various repairs and maintenance organised for the cottage over the years. The life of John Paton, Missionary to the New Hebrides, who was brought up next door to our cottage was explained, and the evening was nicely rounded off with tea, coffee, and some lovely treats supplied by our guests.
This is the sort of visit we are keen to encourage, and any group interested in coming along should get in touch, and will be very welcome.
