The re-thatching of the Cruck Cottage is now complete, thanks to funding sourced from Historic Environment Scotland, and South West Environmental Action Trust, to whom we are very grateful. Also we have fitted a new chimney cowl, renewed our cottage storage shed, limewashed the cottage inside and out, and are in the process of renewing the cottage gate. The help and support we have had from local friends and groups for all these projects has been tremendous, and we owe them all a big thank-you. Also, of course, to the owners of the cottage, Solway Heritage for their continued support and faith in our Association. We hope that as many as possible will come along to our Christmas event, and have a look at the new thatch. It is an example of a skilled craft unique in our area to-day – courtesy of Master Thatcher Jonathan Botterell all the way from York! Thank you all for your continued support and interest in our cottage, an important part of our local heritage.
