Cruck Cottage Heritage

Cruck Cottage, a Category A Listed thatched cottage in Torthorwald, Dumfries is managed by Cruck Cottage Heritage, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), Registered Charity Number SCO51820. It is run by a group of trustees supported by volunteers.  We receive no regular funding and rely on donations from the public and small grants to care for and preserve this historic building.

The cottage is open year-round for guided and group visits. Throughout the main season (April-September) it opens at least once a month for special events, with a programme of evening activities and talks. At all other times a key holder list can be found in the cottage window and one of our friendly neighbours will let you in.

We would be happy to welcome your group to the cottage. One of our knowledgeable volunteers will show you around.  Contact us by email or telephone the contact number on the outside of the cottage.  We can also visit your group within the Dumfries area to give a presentation about the cottage, John Paton and the village.  Get in touch.
